A business-based residence permit costs €850 to set up. After that, he basis must be maintained: a flat-rate tax of ~€116 per month, an accountant ~100 €, registered address ~50 €. Over three years until permanent residency eligibility, that is ~9,600 € — four times the cost of the paperwork itself. We consider this the estimate before payment, because it is what determines whether you will make it to passport: a dissolved sole proprietorship resets continuity, and the three years start over from scratch.
