You live on your own funds and have no plans to work
The visitor residence permit — the most common status on the island — has two features that lead people to buy it for the wrong reasons. First: it does not grant the right to work — neither to a Cypriot company nor to yourself. Second: it is cancelled if you were not present in Cyprus for more than three months a year. If you plan to earn money here, we will say so before payment and name three alternative routes.
Who it suits. For those living on passive income: 24,000 € per year for one person, +20% for a spouse, +15% per child.

Permanent residence here has no expiry date — and it is revoked if you not been in the country for more than two consecutive years. Visitor status — if there has been no more than three months a year. We track these days for you throughout the entire period your status is valid, and not when the card is issued: once the application is in, there is nothing more for the market to say, and the condition remains valid.
⚠️ Order matters here: first your status, then the company, then the account. For a Russian citizen without a residence permit from an EU country, opening an account at a Cypriot company in 2026 is virtually impossible. At the same time, a residence permit restriction lifts: under Article 5b of EU Regulation 833/2014 the ban on deposits above 100,000 € does not apply to those who hold a temporary or permanent residence in an EU, EEA or Swiss country, and the European Commission March 13, 2026, clarified that Russian citizenship alone not a reason to close the account. This is the letter of the policy, not a promise from the bank.

A security deposit of 550 € per person is frozen for ten years — for a family out of four, that is €2,200 in frozen funds. Nobody writes about this.
