Staying long-term: rentier residence permit
Temporary residence and DNI — from the date the clock starts ticking
Rentier status is the most direct route for someone with passive income: rental earnings, dividends, interest, royalties. Salary income does not qualify — there is a separate category. The formula requires five minimum wages per month — around 1,255 $, — but at the appointment they ask closer to 2,000 $ plus a bank balance requirement from $24,000. We tailor the process to your situation, not to a formula.
Who it suits. For those with verifiable passive income confirmed by a bank: landlords, investors, authors with royalties, those living on interest.
What is included
- We check the income against the rentier category: the formula requires five minimum wages, around $1,255 per month, but at the appointment they ask closer to $2,000 and the remainder in the account from $24,000 — we calculate based on practice, not a formula
- We prepare proof of source of funds through the bank — this is where most cases fall apart
- We obtain criminal record certificates: the Argentine RNR and those from every country of residence over the past three years
- We file through RADEX and manage the case through to the appointment invitation
- We guide you to your DNI and explain from which date your clock starts ticking
- We run the two-year counter and prove it: we make sure the clock is genuinely ticking — precaria and tourist 90-day stays do not count toward it, and departures reset the clock continuity
- We find private health insurance — from 2025 it is mandatory for temporary residents

In May 2025, decree 366/2025 transferred citizenship cases from the courts and handed them Migraciones, and at the same time tightened the residency clock: two years of legal residence in a row. A precaria, under which a person lives while their application is being reviewed eir case — that period is not counted. The tourist 90 days are not counted either. Departures break continuity. We have tracked this counter from day one and we gather evidence in advance: rental agreement, utility bills, bank records, entry stamps o entries and exits — because the decision rests with the authorities reviewing the paperwork, not word by word. Parts of the decree are being challenged in courts, and we work in a way that your stay was provable regardless of the outcome.

Precaria, under which a person lives while their case is being reviewed; during this period does not count. Nor do tourist 90-day stays. We track the count from day one and gather evidence in advance, because the authority decides on the basis of documents, not words.
