Packages in Chile

A set of services for one moment in life — cheaper than the same services separately. The contents of each package are itemised line by line, prices in dollars and are final. We do not hide government fees inside and we do not mark them up: they are modest in Chile — $85 for a visa, around $152 for permanent residence — listed as separate figures and paid directly to the relevant authority.

Arriving as a tourist and applying in-country is not allowed

Since 12 February 2022, Law 21.325 has been in effect: a foreigner present in Chile on tourist status cannot apply for residency. Exceptions are narrow — family reunification, humanitarian cases, and those who arrived before that date. So the usual process doesn’t apply here: person who arrives on 90 visa-free days ’to look around and apply’ finds out only on arrival and has to leave and reapply again from the country of residence. That is why the residence permit is arranged before departure, and entry is only permitted after a positive decision. That is why the first package in the range is our most expensive: it delivers status, not preparation o them. The timelines are departmental: SERMIG reviews the temporary residence for up to twelve months, permanent — from one to two years, and we we state this before payment, not after.

Residence before your flight — otherwise you cannot obtain it in Chile

You cannot fly into Chile and sort things out on arrival. Law 21.325 closed that the route in February 2022: a tourist already in the country cannot apply for residency. That means the entire path runs in reverse — first the dossier and application from the country where you live, then the decision, and only then the flight. We manage this submission in full.

  • ⚠️ We verify the essentials before any money changes hands: arriving as a tourist and applying on the spot is not possible. Since 12 February 2022, Law 21.325 prohibits this — residency is obtained from the country of residence, with entry after a positive decision
  • We identify which category applies to you: rentista on passive income, pensioner, employment contract, investor, family reunification or study
  • We build a dossier that reads as a steady income: there is no fixed threshold in Chilean law, and the decision rests with SERMIG — that is precisely where all the work lies
  • We prepare and review the complete document package for your chosen basis

As a family

Status for everyone — and a plan for who to process now and who later

Residence for the primary applicant and every family member. Plus a calculation, which in Chile saves both money and months: family reunification — the only category that can be applied for from within the country. Sometimes it makes more sense to bring one person through and handle the rest on arrival.

Two thirty-day deadlines that are easy to miss

  • ⚠️ Registration with PDI — within 30 days of entry, no fee
  • ⚠️ Register at the Registro Civil for a cédula — within 30 days of receiving your status

RUT — the key to everything else in Chile

Without an RUT in Chile you cannot open a bank account, buy property, or sign a contract or register a company. It is issued together with a cédula and costs nothing — the only question is going through the procedure on time and without a second attempt.

  • Cédula de identidad: appointment, accompaniment to the Registro Civil, collection
  • RUT — issued together with the cédula, no separate fee
  • Enrollment in the healthcare system: Fonasa or Isapre, your choice, with a calculation of what is more beneficial in your case

After 24 months — or 12 if a child is born in Chile

Residencia Definitiva eliminates the renewal cycle and opens the path to a passport. Filed after 24 months of temporary residence, and with a Chilean-born child or kinship with a Chilean — after 12 already. There is a filing window: 90 days before the current residence permit expires. Miss the window and the cycle starts over.

Your own business in Chile: SpA

And an honest answer on who gets the company for free — and who doesn’t

Chile really does allow you to register a company in one day and for zero pesos — through the Empresa en un Día portal, using a standard charter. But access to it via Clave Única, which is issued based on the Chilean RUT. This means the free route available only to those who already have a cédula. Everyone else — a notary and a local representative.

  • ⚠️ We check whether the free route is available to you: Empresa en un Día works via Clave Única, which is issued based on the Chilean RUT — meaning already to a resident with a cédula
  • SpA registration: via standard articles through the portal or by notarial deed, if you don’t have status yet

Buying my own place: transaction in UF

A foreigner buys on equal terms with a Chilean — the question is the RUT and the budget

Chilean law makes no distinction between locals and foreigners: buying property in full ownership is available to anyone. The two real challenges are RUT for non-residents, and the fact that all prices here are quoted in UF, a unit that which is recalculated daily for inflation.

  • RUT for a non-resident through a representative, if you do not yet have status
  • Property and developer check before the deposit
  • Full transaction budget: ancillary costs in Chile — 1.5–3% of the price, up to 5% on a mortgage

Giving birth in Chile: mother’s status before delivery

The child will become Chilean only if the mother is already a resident

This is an eighteen-month programme, not a trip taken in the third trimester. A child receives Chilean citizenship at birth only if the mother at the time of birth — a temporary resident. Parents who are tourists do not have that registered as ’hijo de extranjero transeúnte.’ And residency follows six to twelve months and is filed from abroad. We count from the date r generations ago.

How Chile differs from the thirteen countries where we already work

  • Status is arranged before departure. Since 12 February 2022, Law 21.325 prohibits a tourist from within Chile to apply for residency. Exceptions are narrow: family reunification families, humanitarian cases, and those who entered before that date. That means the order here is reversed — first the dossier and submission from the country where you live, then a SERMIG decision, and only then the flight. That is why the first package in our lineup the most expensive: it confers status, not preparation for it.
  • The child will become Chilean only if the mother is already a resident. Birthright citizenship exists in Chile, but with a condition — and that is the main mistake made by those who travel to give birth. A child born to tourist parents registered as ’hijo de extranjero transeúnte’: to claim o citizenship, he will only be able to apply within one year after of majority. From 13 April 2026, circular N°014 Registro Civil explicitly requires the clerk to verify status r parents’ passport and migration card. And residency maternity takes six to twelve months and is filed from abroad — count backwards from the due date, with a safety margin.
  • There is no citizenship by investment here. We say this in the first line, not in a footnote. Neither the programme for investment, nor does a golden visa exist in Chile, and the visa investor requires at least $500,000 in production investment and grants only residency. There is one path to a passport: residence permit, then Permanent residence after twenty-four months — or after twelve, if r a Chilean-born child — then five years and naturalization. The passport itself, however, opens 161 countries visa-free.
  • Two years of absence — and the permanent residence you waited for is cancelled. Chilean permanent residence is not open-ended in the sense that it is usually understood: it lapses if you are out of the country for more than two consecutive years. The term can be extended at the consulate — once and for two years. A person who left ’for a couple of years on business’, reverts to a status that no longer exists, and to two years o waits from scratch. We keep this counter.
  • There is no income threshold in the law at all. The market quotes figures and sells them as a guarantee: ”from a thousand dollars a month and you’ll be approved.’ In Chilean law no fixed threshold — SERMIG requires ’regular income or sufficient savings’ and decides in aggregate. That is why we do not promise approval based on the amount, and we compile a dossier that the authority will have no questions about.
  • A company for zero — but not for everyone. Chile really does allow you to register an SpA in a single day and free of charge, through the Empresa en un Día portal using a standard charter. Access requires a Clave Única, which is issued against a Chilean RUT — to only those who already have a cédula. For everyone else he notarial route through a representative remains available: 150,000–300,000 pesos to the notary. We say this upfront, not after the fact.
  • The academic year runs from March to December. Chile is in the Southern Hemisphere, and that upends familiar planning: school enrollment runs from October to December. Those who relocate ’by September,’ arrives at the end of the school year. Recognition atestat, school search and enrollment we calculate based on the Chilean calendar, not the Russian one.
  • We charge for ongoing management, not for the submission itself. You can submit the documents yourself — the complexity starts after that submission: SERMIG requests, timelines, follow-up documents, errors that cause in which the case is returned. Our price covers having the case handled to the outcome, and we explain that difference before you pay.
