How it works in Chile
The RUT number is central — you need it for banking, renting, getting a phone, and shopping at nstallment plan. It is issued by the Registro Civil together with an identity document. Chile accepts apostilles; translations are done by sworn translators.
What we need from you to get started
- Passport and status, or a submitted case
- Address and proof of residence
- Original documents with apostille
Where things most often go wrong
- —They put off getting a RUT and couldn’t rent an apartment above board or open a bank account
- —Translation is not certified and will not be accepted
- —The name is recorded without the second surname, or with it spelled differently
Fees, processing times, and institutional requirements change several times per year, which is why they are not listed here: we verify and quote them as of the date of submission.
