Transfers and parcels in Shenzhen
Transfers and courier deliveries in Shenzhen: how to send important items through fellow community members — documents, medicines, small parcels.
How to send a parcel from Shenzhen to Russia: logistics, cargo, and fellow travelers
Shenzhen is the largest manufacturing and trading hub in southern China. Tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, buyers, and IT specialists regularly ship goods, documents, and personal belongings from here back home. But logistics from this city work differently than from Moscow or even Shanghai: there are no direct flights to Russia, postal infrastructure is geared toward B2B cargo, and familiar services behave unpredictably. Figuring this out in advance saves both time and money.

Sending a parcel from Shenzhen to Russia: main channels
For individuals and small shipments from Shenzhen, there are three main channels:
1. CDEK (CDEK China) The official CDEK office operates in Shenzhen. It handles documents, clothing, and electronics without batteries. Delivery time is 14 to 25 days by air; the cost is the equivalent of 1,500–3,000 RUB for 1–3 kg. Important: within China, CDEK works through partner warehouses, and the actual drop-off address should be confirmed via WeChat support — it changes periodically.
2. Boxberry China Consolidates small parcels via Hong Kong or Shanghai, then onward to Russia. Logistically convenient for Shenzhen: Hong Kong is 40 minutes away by MTR. Delivery times are similar to CDEK; rates are slightly lower for small weights.
3. Cargo intermediaries (Shenzhen cargo) Local Russian-speaking and Chinese cargo companies are the main option for commercial shipments. The model works like this: you bring your cargo to a warehouse in the Huaqiangbei or Longhua area, they consolidate it with other shipments and send it by sea or air. Sea freight is 3–5 times cheaper, but takes 30–55 days. Air cargo: 10–18 days.
Courier delivery in Shenzhen: sending documents and small parcels
For urgent documents, keys, SIM cards, and small gifts, an informal courier remains indispensable. There are no direct flights from Shenzhen to Moscow, so routes go via Beijing (PEK), Shanghai (PVG), Urumqi (URC), or through third countries (Istanbul, UAE, Almaty). Travel time is 12 to 18 hours; a return ticket costs 30,000–70,000 RUB depending on the season and route.
You can find an okazia from Shenzhen to Russia through:
- Russian-speaking WeChat groups (search for “Shenzhen Ocassia” (оказия Шэньчжэнь) or “SZ Russians” (SZ русские))
- Telegram channels of the Russian-speaking community in Shenzhen
- Business clubs and intermediary agencies focused on B2B traders
Insider tip: Most people fly via Shanghai rather than Beijing — connections are more convenient and traffic is higher. If you’re looking for someone to carry a parcel from Shenzhen to Moscow, ask specifically about the Shanghai route.
Sending documents urgently in Shenzhen is also possible via DHL and FedEx — both have a physical presence there; express delivery to Moscow takes 3–5 business days, costing the equivalent of 4,000–8,000 RUB per envelope. It is expensive, but reliable for legal documents.

Money transfers from Shenzhen
Bank transfers from China to Russia are technically possible but practically difficult. Banks in Shenzhen refuse international transfers to Russia due to sanctions risks. Working schemes as of 2026:
- UnionPay cards from Chinese banks (Bank of China, ICBC) — withdraw cash in Russia at ATMs that support UnionPay
- Cryptocurrency (USDT via P2P) — widely used in Shenzhen’s business community
- Exchange intermediaries — operate via WeChat Pay, charge a commission of 2–4%
Common mistakes
- Dropping off a shipment without confirming the current CDEK warehouse address. Drop-off addresses change periodically, and a shipment delivered to an old address may end up at a closed facility.
- Putting lithium batteries in an air parcel without proper labelling. Chinese customs will hold the shipment and return it without notice. Batteries should only be sent via cargo or specialist channels.
- Arranging a delivery handoff with strangers outside verified groups. Cases where a fellow traveler never showed up or asked for money upfront and vanished are real stories in the Shenzhen community.
- Understating the value of goods on a customs declaration to reduce duties. Russian customs is increasingly scrutinising parcels from China; undervaluation leads to delays and fines — not savings.
- Relying on Russian Post as a working channel. Delivery times range from 30 to 90 days, tracking disappears, and parcels get held up at customs. For goods from Shenzhen, this is the last resort.
- Not accounting for the VAT logic in cargo shipping. Cargo intermediaries often include only transport in their price — customs clearance, duties, and brokerage fees are paid separately upon receipt in Russia.
What to choose
For urgent documents — DHL or FedEx if the budget allows, or a community courier via WeChat groups. For small personal parcels — CDEK China or Boxberry. For commercial shipments — cargo intermediaries from the Huaqiangbei area: air freight for speed, sea freight for cost. Money transfers are most convenient via UnionPay or P2P crypto — bank wire from Shenzhen to Russia is de facto non-functional in 2026.
