Study grants in Turkey

Turkey’s primary programme for international students covers everything at once: tuition, dormitory, monthly stipend, health insurance, flights, and a year of language courses. Competition is fierce, and applications go through a single window once a year.

How education financing works here

The national scholarship programme is the main route, and it works as a single application: you select several universities and programmes within a single competition. Universities — particularly private ones — also offer their own discounts and scholarships; they are often willing to reduce tuition fees for strong applicants.

About diploma recognition

Enrolling in school in Turkey without having your diploma recognized is not possible: the process is called denklik and is handled by the Ministry of Education. It’s free, but takes time and requires legalized documents — so it should be started alongside your application, not after enrollment.

What to prepare in advance

Turkish is required for most state programs, but a scholarship includes a preparatory year specifically for the language. International-language programs require an internationally recognized certificate. Not all universities require an entrance exam for foreign applicants — check the requirements with the specific institution.

We do not publish exact application dates: they change every year, and this page is meant to last months. The card shows an intake window in plain language and a link to the official page, where the date is always current.
