Prices are in US dollars and are all-inclusive — nothing is added on top. Hong Kong government fees are paid separately and directly to the authority: visa or extension — 230 HKD (approx. $30), initial HKID card — free. There is no VAT in Hong Kong.

Where things most often go wrong
- —They put off getting an HKID and got stuck on banking, phone service, and schools
- —Proof of address not in your name: the utility bill must be in your name or backed by a contract
