How it works in Hong Kong
HKID — the central document everything is tied to. Foreign documents go through apostille; translations are accepted from recognised translators. Proceedings are conducted in English and Chinese, and it shows simplifies life compared to the mainland.
What we need from you to get started
- Passport and entry permit
- Address and proof of residence
- Original documents with apostille
Where things most often go wrong
- —They put off getting an HKID and got stuck on banking, phone service, and schools
- —Proof of address not in your name: the utility bill must be in your name or backed by a contract
- —The name is recorded differently in the passport and in local documents
Fees, processing times, and institutional requirements change several times per year, which is why they are not listed here: we verify and quote them as of the date of submission.
