How it works in Georgia
Residence permits are issued by the State Services Agency; appointments are taken at the House of Justice. A distinctive feature of Georgia is the long visa-free period for many countries: some people live here legally without a residence permit at all, and the first the question is always whether you actually need the status.

- Grounds for a residence permit: employment, your own business, real estate, study, or family
- Basis documents with an apostille and a translation certified in Georgia
Where things most often go wrong
- —Applied for a residence permit that wasn’t actually needed: the visa-free period was sufficient, and a subsequent rejection of the application then creates obstacles
- —Applied under the property route without verifying that the property met the eligibility requirements
