How it works in Montenegro

The personal number and card arrive together with the status. Montenegro accepts apostille, translations — from certified court translators. Some certificates are issued upon place of registration, so the municipality where you live determines where to go.

What we need from you to get started

  • Passport and status, or a submitted case
  • Residence registration
  • Original documents with apostille

Where things most often go wrong

  • —Translation without a sworn translator’s stamp
  • —The criminal record check has expired by the time of submission — a fresh one is required.
  • —The name is recorded differently across documents

Fees, processing times, and institutional requirements change several times per year, which is why they are not listed here: we verify and quote them as of the date of submission.
