How it works in Canada
The case stays with us: the specialist comes to wherever and whenever works for you scheduled. The medical interpreter works at Toronto General Hospital and in the doctor’s office — at an OB-GYN appointment, at an ultrasound, in the admissions at rest and in the delivery room. The nanny is arranged by a partner company and works it’s wherever you live.
What we need from you to get started
- Date and time of the appointment — without them there is nothing to book
- Hospital or clinic and doctor’s name, if an appointment has already been made
- The appointment in a nutshell: a routine check-up and a conversation about a C-section require very different preparation.
- Stage of pregnancy: it determines how many hours to allow for
- For a nanny — the child’s age, hours, and address
Where things most often go wrong
- —The partner counts waiting time at the appointment as the interpreter’s working time. This is its rule, and we state it before payment, not after: in the Canadian hospital waiting an hour for an appointment is perfectly normal, and that hour is paid for
- —Prices here are in US dollars, not Canadian, unlike the rest of the page: this is the partner’s rate and we have no authority to change it
- —13% HST is added on top
- —A translator is not a doctor and does not make medical decisions — they translate to, exactly what the doctor says, and exactly as the doctor said it
- —The Optimal and Comfort plans already include an interpreter at appointments — no separate payment needed — check your package before ordering
The difference from France, where the same group is sold separately: here it is almost always part of the birth package, not a standalone service. A person who needs an interpreter at a gynaecology appointment in Toronto, usually already included in the package — and the first thing we check is whether it has already been paid this happened to him twice.
Fees, processing times, and institutional requirements change several times per year, which is why they are not listed here: we verify and quote them as of the date of submission.
