How it works in Turkey
State schools accept children with a residence permit by place of residence; private and international — on your own terms and in advance. Foreign documents on education recognizes the education authority, and without it a grade level cannot be confirmed.
What we need from you to get started
- Report cards and school certificate with apostille and sworn translation
- Child’s residence permit or submitted application
- Address registration — it determines your school catchment area
Where things most often go wrong
- —Applied to an international school in summer, when enrolment had long since closed
- —Didn’t confirm the year group in advance and the child was placed a year behind
- —Didn’t account for the fact that state school instruction is in Turkish, and language support falls on the family
