How it works in Mexico
Schools are divided into public, private, and international, and admissions to each organized differently. Foreign certificates and transcripts are recognized by SEP — a procedure it is called revalidación and is processed through state authorities.
What we need from you to get started
- Report cards and school certificate with apostille and translation
- Child’s birth certificate with apostille
- The grade and language of instruction you want
Where things most often go wrong
- —Waited until August: spots at private and international schools are snapped up well in advance
- —You brought a school letter instead of a grade transcript — class placement cannot be confirmed from it
- —Didn’t complete the revalidación in advance, and the child was admitted conditionally, losing a year
