Under GESY, clinical psychology is covered by referral — from your personal doctor or a specialist — with a co-payment per session and an annual session limit. The parliament voted to include counselling psychologists in GESY, but how this works in practice remains unclear — check with your personal doctor. Psychologists themselves report frustration with the limited number of covered sessions and not all diagnoses being included, which is why many people opt for private care.
